Semiotics/Pictograms – Study of Signs

Students will explore the use of signs as a non verbal form of communication.

After observing Keith Haring and the following signs.

Semiotics – the study of signs and symbols as elements of communicative behavior; the analysis of systems of communication, as language, gestures, or clothing.

Students will 1. take a sign (pictogram) and reproduce it 3 times in secondary colors (Orange, Green, Purple.)  2. Students will choose a rule from their agenda or a rule /behavior that they would like to see in the halls at school and design a sign (Pictogram.) Use whatever colors you might think are effective.
